Modis is seeking a Release Engineer to work with our client to support and improve their build and deployment procedures, support the source code management system and coordinate application builds to non production and production environments.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

·         Coordinating source code "check in" and "check out", ensuring proper configuration is applied to application builds and releases, and verifying the build before handing off to the next stage in SDLC.

·         Administering and maintaining the Software Change and Configuration Management system and assisting/training the development group in understanding and using the system.

·         Developing and testing build scripts in Unix and Windows environments to automate the compilation of a wide range of technologies such as: DotNet, C/C++, Java, Tibco, and others.

·         Promoting application builds within the non-production environments in support of the various testing phases.

·         Coordinating and processing manual software package migrations, understanding and integrating with the client’s release process

·         Working with the Engineering Development and Production Support technicians to schedule source code "check ins" and branches and merges to codebases

·         Assisting the Lead Release Engineer in laying down configuration management policies and procedures 

·         Working with the technical services team for setting up access permissions for the automated scripts to function properly

·         Seeking approvals from the Release Manager and QA lead prior to promoting code ensuring adherence to the release calendar and the environment plan

 

Required skills:

 

·         BS degree (Computer Science, MIS major or comparable)

·         At least 5 years of experience with Build and Deployment automation

·         Experience with UNIX, Perl and Windows shell scripting and using Unix tools such as sed, grep Regular expression constructs

·         Knowledge of scripting within environments such as NT CMD Shell, Korn Shell, MKS, etc.

·         Knowledge of build technologies: MSBuild, Make / NMAKE / Imake / Ant / NAnt

·         Exposure to TCP/IP fundamentals and Public/Private key authentication supporting SSH, SFTP, and SCP  

·         Experience with documentation and clear commenting of any complex scripting methods

·         Experience with at least one SCCM toolset such as Accurev, Clearcase, CVS, SCCS, Subversion or a similar product.

·         Source control and version management administration.

·         Knowledge of SDLC and release cycles

·         Experience with Windows - Windows Server 2008 and 2003 (Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows Terminal Server, WinFrame, MetaFrame, and UNIX experience is desirable) knowledge of database concepts is a plus

·         Other desired experience includes Apache server, CGI Web scripting, Windows Scripting Host (WSH), SharePoint data manipulation
