Release Manager (to be based in London, Bristol, Dorking, Salisbury or Exeter) recruitment

This role can be based in London, Bristol, Dorking, Salisbury or Exeter.
Responsibilities:
- To lead, coordinate and manage the overall release of the IT grouping of projects for multiple and complex IT technical solutions in line with release schedule as defined and agreed.
- To liaise, consult and direct projects within the release to meet the expectation/requirements of the release in terms of timescales.
- Management of dependencies, within the release and with other in-flight projects an/or releases, escalating where necessary.
- To agree the release content and manage changes throughout the lifetime of the release.
- Monitor the constituent projects through build and test, identifying and mitigating risks and escalating any un-mitigated risks/slippages as necessary.
- Provide overall governance and management for the release, realising synergies in testing and implementation management, reviewing and where appropriate producing relevant release level documentation for example status reports, test approach, implementation plans.
- Act as the escalation point of contact for projects contained within the release, representing the release at relevant meetings, including attending Release Control Boards.
- Manage the overall release plan to the agreed release date, managing the issues risks relating to the release. Being aware of the impact of the release on other in flight releases/projects.
- Act’s the primary IT approval for the release, ensuring that all IT artefacts (release plan, release RAID, release reports) produced are appropriate, to time and are for purpose and adhere to defined quality measures.
- Manage interfaces with internal stakeholders (business partners etc.) in order to ensure full integration of solutions.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
Essential
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience and/ or relevant Industry qualification.
- Accredited at Project Management discipline (practitioner level) (e.g. Certified Project Manager, APMP, Prince2 practitioner, ISEB ).
- Able to contribute at a strategic level Proven decision making ability, effectively balancing the requirements of multiple stakeholders Advanced communication skills Ability to manage and develop people effectively - proven track record of Staff Development.
- Proven experience at delivering complex IT solutions Proven experience of Project Management disciplines Proven experience of influencing senior management population Proven experience of managing relationships with 3rd parties Experience of budget management.
- Expert understanding of end to end IT solutions.
Desirable
- Possess the ability to recognise opportunities across a broad front and take action to exploit these to measurable effect.
- Expert understanding of the Friends Life Delivery lifecycle.
- Heightened awareness of market trends in Insurance the IT industry.
