Under minimal supervision, responsible for evaluating and analyzing the quality of assigned operational functions to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as state and federal law and regulations. Validate and document when company standards and policies, or any applicable state and federal requirements have not been followed.
Impact on the Business
- Determine process workflow or functional tasks to assess applicable control points and weaknesses. Develop new review programs and tests to validate that operational and risk processes exist and function as stated.
- Develop/Maintain tracking used for exceptions/action plans and maintain statistics of exceptions/action plans by currently designated parameters.
- Maintain and validate quantity of work completed on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
- Complete the complex unscheduled operational reviews and documents exceptions. Prepare summary reports.
- Maintain awareness of any changes in company policies and state and federal regulations to ensure process functions remain in compliance and within risk tolerances.
- Identify problems associated with assigned areas and recommends policy changes and communicates with Managers as necessary.
- May develop training materials and lead training sessions to educate others in the functional area on the changes to improve quality
- May write the necessary queries to be used by other entry or fully qualified Quality Control Specialists in the course of conducting their reviews.
Management of Risk
- Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
Observation of Internal Controls
- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Bachelor's degree in business, related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three years proven audit/compliance experience or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, analytical, organizational, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software packages.
- Able to work independently and with all levels of management.
