Reporting and Accounting Officer recruitment
The job operates within the Financial Control Division, mainly responsible for publishing, internally and externally, the accounts, the consolidation of the EIB Group accounts under EU accounting directives and IFRS and the financial control function.
The successful candidate will evaluate the introduction of new accounting regulations (EUGAAP and IFRS) in order to formulate recommendations on their impact on the accounting policies and financial statements within the EIB Group and Third Party Mandates. Carry out the analytical review of sections of the statutory reports in order to detect any anomaly/inaccuracies.
S/he will report to the Head of Unit and work mainly in autonomy, but at the same time in close co-operation with the entire Division as well as with the other members of the Department.
Accountabilities
- End to end responsibility for executing accounting control processes in order to ensure the accurate and timely production of the financial statements and other financial reports in compliance with the relevant EU directives and the International Accounting standards
- Contribute to the communication of accounting related strategies, policies and procedures throughout the organisation
- Maintain awareness of latest developments in IFRS and European Directives on accounting standards as well as more generally stay abreast of best practice in the accounting area
- Maintain external and internal relations relating to financial accounting
Qualifications
- University degree in accounting or related fields
- An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting in the banking sector
- Very good knowledge of IFRS and of European Directives on accounting standards
- Knowledge of the concepts and terminology of financial risk hedging
- Knowledge of the software applications used at the Bank, in particular of Peoplesoft GL, Trema FK, BO
- Very good knowledge of the standard office tools
- Fluent in English and/or French and very good knowledge of the other language
