Position Description
Morgan Stanley is seeking an experienced Web and Mobile Product Manager to envision and execute on a new experience for how clients consume investment research content through Morgan Stanley's email, web, and mobile platforms.
This position will be part of the Technology Management team within the Research business unit, focusing on client-facing technology to enhance the overall client experience. The Technology Management team consists of project managers and business analysts who manage technology initiatives on behalf of the business unit. They are responsible for managing projects from initial conception to deployment.
This role requires a candidate with prior experience implementing large-scale web and mobile products utilizing digital media concepts in the context of news/content distribution, a strong background in business analysis and project management, and an interest in understanding the investment research business model. The successful candidate will provide end-to-end product management from requirements gathering and analysis, through implementation, and post implementation support.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Define program vision, goals, and strategy
• Gather, develop, and own business requirements
• Work with counterparts in IT to ensure these requirements are delivered successfully and on schedule
• Create, own, and manage project plans related to the initiatives
• Liaise with Research analyst teams and senior management to understand their requirements, ensuring strategic business objectives are met, and coordinate usability and user-acceptance testing
• Plan and manage the deployment of the systems globally
• Monitor and report on project status to stakeholders, and escalate issues as required
Skills Required
• Strong background in business analysis and project management
• Relevant experience with online and mobile digital media projects
• Strong "user first" focus on design and usability of systems
• Experience implementing web analytics and conducting A/B tests a plus
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple activities to aggressive deadlines
• Self-starter with can-do attitude, and a strong client focus
• Strong problem-solving capabilities; ability to come up with solutions for complex business problems
• Proficient in developing business requirements, use cases, and user acceptance testing cases/plans
• Prior experience on global projects / global systems implementations
• Familiar with all phases of the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering through design, development, deployment, and support
• Prior experience managing small teams and/or steering development teams in a matrix environment
• General knowledge of Research, Investment Banking or Financial Services
• Excellent MS Office skills, in particular Excel
• Experience with MS Project
