SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as the center duty officer, on assigned shifts; coordinates dormitory staff in absence of Residential Living Manager; works with residential management to provide safe and positive living environment that delivers guidance to students to ensure positive group living relations and achievement in the program in compliance with government and management directives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervise and control residential living conditions for assigned shift or dormitory; evaluate situations and conditions within the dormitories and make decisions or recommendations to maintain a safe, positive, and wholesome environment.

Provide staff training for new staff in assigned area.
·
Assist with dorm recreational activities and dorm competition.
·
Assist in development of schedule of residential staff and ensure shifts are covered as needed.
·
Assist training and supervision of student dorm leaders, as assigned.
·
Work as an effective member of the residential living team ensuring communication with the on-call duty officer and support of other departments.
·
Recommend student visits to the counselor and health staff as appropriate.
·
Supervise, direct and monitor dorm, recreation, safety and student activities as designated, including dorm government and peer court for designated shift.
·
Prepare accountability report; pass list, evaluations, and other administrative correspondence relating to students.
·
Direct staff and students and assists in the cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory.
Conduct dorm and room inspections as assigned.
Identify and communicate dorm maintenance needs to dorm supervisor or designee.
Recommend or requisition supplies to provide needs for dorm living and safety of students.

Oversee and conduct dorm meetings in accordance with the schedule.
As assigned, participate in and conduct career preparation activities or other center committees/activities.

Ensure that residential staff maintain dormitory and individual student files in compliance with data integrity guidelines; ensure files are complete, updated, and contain all required documentation. Regularly audit residential files for completeness and accuracy.

Ensure residential advisors evaluate student progress as part of interdepartmental teams and submit evaluations on a timely basis.

Serve as center duty officer as assigned.
·
Maintain accountability of students; adhere to safety practices.
·
Maintain accountability of center property and ensure appropriate property management policies are followed.
·
Perform assigned administrative duties required for effective student and staff services.
·
Cultivate and maintain a climate on center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.

Maintain positive and effective relations with students.
Provide guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude and proper behavior in the dormitory living situation, and to accomplish their goals and objectives.

Promote the development of career success standards through modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, monitoring student skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
·
Perform other duties as assigned.
