Retail Investment Specialist recruitment

Opportunity

As a key function within the MG Retail Fixed Interest Team, the Investment Specialist team is responsible for the articulation of investment views and fund positioning for the entire range of MG Retail Fixed Interest funds. The role reports to the Investment Director and has a particular focus on MG's fixed interest products.

Key responsibilities
- To work with the fund management team to shape and communicate all dimensions of the investment message (investment mandate, fund approach, risk and performance characteristics) for the Fixed Interest product range.
- To act as an investment team point of contact and representative for sales, investment marketing, and press teams
- To support the fund management team on fund differentiation projects, fund proposition changes, and communication of the team proposition
- To understand the requirements of the distribution channels in terms of fund manager support
- To generate ideas for investment communications, taking into account feedback provided by the distribution channels
- Work closely with fund managers and business development teams in coordinating and participating in new business pitches
- Advancement of the fixed product range internally and externally
- Competitor analysis and development of a competitor positioning database
- Superior written, verbal and presenting skills
- Point of contact and expertise on the European fixed interest products and views
- Represent the fund manager to internal and external audiences where appropriate
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the key contacts within the distribution channels
- Communicate to investment writers and RFP specialists about specific funds for particular reports, review investment content where require

What we are looking for

- Strong communication and presentation skills - able to communicate the investment messages to a range of audiences
- Proactive nature - able to anticipate future requirements, and also determine information which may be of interest to distribution channels
- Strong interpersonal skills - able to build good relationships with fund managers, and the key contacts in the distribution channels
- Perceptive - able to understand requirements and provide relevant information
- Good listening skills
- Good organisational skills - able to manage and meet different deadlines and priorities from different sources, ensure timeliness of delivery
- Ability to consider and develop new angles and approaches for funds
- Ability to empathise and understand client perspectives
- Proven years in a similar role.
- A degree in Economics, Business or Finance would be looked upon favourably
- Fluent in a European language would be an advantage
- Working (or willing to work towards) CFA
