RF Design and Test Engineer

Introduction: The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a RF Design and Test Engineer.

Job Summary: Design missile RF seeker special test equipment for HWIL evaluations and design missile RF seeker microwave component/subassembly prototypes.

Duties: Design and build missile RF seeker HWIL special test equipment such as uplink generators, target generators, etc.... Design and build RF seeker component/subassembly prototypes. Conduct antenna, radome, signature and other RF measurements. Analyze, model and simulate RF sensor performance and the RF environment to characterize the performance of RF guidance systems.

Required Qualifications:  BS/MS in Electrical Engineering with 10 or more years experience in RF system design and testing, signal processing, software development, stochastic processes, and communication theory. Course work or experience in analysis, design and development of microwave and electric circuitry.
 
Desired Qualifications:  Experience with missile RF seeker system design and testing. Experience with VME or PCI-based hardware, development of software for real-time system, and hardware-in-the-loop testing of guidance and navigation systems. Experience with analysis, design and testing of RF sensors and navigation systems. Knowledge of digital and RF system CAE applications such as Mentor or Advanced Design System and other development tools such as Labview and Labwindows.
