Risk Executive, Policy & Process
The Opportunity
This role is advisory in nature and involves assisting with the articulation, communication and governance of credit policy applicable to both the Institutional Banking and Markets (IBM) and Business and Private Banking (BPB) business units. The role involves working with business unit stakeholders as a trusted advisor on all credit policy matters and carries multiple accountabilities, including:
- Delivering consistent and high standards of customer service in all stakeholder interactions.
- Supporting the Chief Risk Officer of IBB, IBB Leadership Team and IBB Credit Policy Team as guardian of credit policies.
- Working with stakeholders to drive cultural change toward credit risk. The key objective is to develop a culture that balances risk, return and growth to maximise sustainable net profit.
- Facilitating responses to APRA and Board Risk Committee requirements, and any other obligations that may arise.
- Support and drive cultural themes, priorities and areas of focus for the Risk Management Group and IBB, which includes the promotion of One Risk Team.
The role will initially involve playing a pivotal role in a comprehensive redesign of the existing IBB credit policy framework and its subsequent implementation. You will be required to provide key input into a proposed new approach in conjunction with your team and internal BU stakeholders.

- Demonstrate broad experience and commercial acumen across all facets of Risk Management (e.g. credit, compliance, market and operational risk).
- Demonstrate a broad understanding across all facets of the Group's retail, SME, corporate, institutional and sovereign banking and finance customer segments.
- Show initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement with both direct team members and also with other stakeholders.
- Be able to effectively manage tasks to ensure obligations and initiatives are completed successfully and within time/budgetary constraints.
- Role-model continuous improvement, and show initiative in personal development.
- Have strong negotiating and conflict management skills, and an existing broad network of contacts within the Group.
What will help you succeed?
- Extensive experiencein a credit-related role at a major financial institution
- Familiarity with the Bank's credit origination and decisioning policies and processes
- Tertiary qualification in a finance or economics discipline
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think outside the box and clearly articulate ideas
- Familiarity with Australian Prudential Standard 113
- Exposure to individual businesses within BPB, IBM and their constituent components
- Understanding of the concepts of credit, market and operational risk
- Statistics discipline included in the tertiary qualification.
- Exposure to process improvement initiatives and experience in coordinating system changes
