JOB PURPOSE

The Risk Manager will contribute significantly to the Risk Management Function providing a focal point for activities related to the risk assessment, management, and reporting. They will develop and maintain a robust risk management framework across the company.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Execution/Assistance of all relevant responsibilities under the Company’s Allocation of Responsibilities Memoranda, Terms of Reference for the Risk Compliance Department, and the Company’s systems and controls including without limitation its Risk Management Policy, principally:

Development of an effective Risk Strategy Risk Management Policy

Maintain the Company’s Risk Register

Identification and documentation of the Company’s risk appetite and risk tolerance

Conduct a rolling programme of risk reviews and assessments

Identify and report on actual and emerging Risk Issues

Assist with the preparation of the ICA ensuring linkage to the risk management framework, and play a lead role in the development of the Company’s ORSA.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The successful candidate will be of degree caliber, with  quality professional risk manager experience  in a general insurance company. They will have a sound understanding of the emergent regulatory requirements including Solvency II including in detail the implications for insurers’ risk functions.

Strong quantitative skills and a sound knowledge of the structure and contents of insurers’ financial and regulatory reports and management accounting reports would be a considerable advantage as would experience in contributing in a significant way to general insurer ICA and development of ORSA.
