Job Description Davis Langdon, An AECOM Company, is seeking an experienced Cost Engineering/Quantity Surveying Executive to oversee our San Francisco office to ensure sustained high performance against the strategy and operational plan - meeting all financial, customer, internal process, and people related goals, which include growth of our presence there. This is an opportunity to play a significant role in the development and growth of the Program, Cost, Consultancy business line in North America. Role of the Office Leader The purpose of this role is to develop and manage PCC's business in the local geographical market, so as to ensure sustained high performance against the strategy and operational plan - meeting all financial, customer, internal process, and people related goals. This role has ultimate responsibility for maximizing opportunities with local clients (those outside of sectors or under the financial threshold), for dedicated resources, and for providing local support and facilities to Sector and Service Line people. Specifically, this role has five major areas of emphasis: 1) Manage the local office's "book of business" - ensuring efficient and profitable delivery of a broad offering of services. 2) Ensure Davis Langdon develops robust local client relationships and strategically matches a broader offering of services to client needs, integrates the delivery of services for clients, and ensures ongoing high quality, high value services. 3) Proactively collaborate with Sector Leaders to secure opportunities in the local area -in support of moving of Davis Langdon services upstream to owners as clients and increasing delivery of strategic consulting services for premium revenues. 4) Manage the overall local reputation and market awareness. 5) Work collaboratively with Service Line and Sector Leaders to prioritize competing opportunities and available resources to deliver optimal benefit to overall firm (not the local office), all facilitated by the Resource Leader. Scope: Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job. Business Planning - Support annual business plan for growth consistent with PCC's strategic plan. o Develop annual local office business plan which is integrated with the relevant sector business plans and anticipates resource, facility, and other local needs. - Manage local office organization. - Participate in leadership communications meetings and retreats. Local Development Leadership - Lead the local office. Maximize local opportunities while ensuring effective utilization of resources and delivery of value to clients. - Develop and manage internal and external reputation and brand (to clients, candidates, and employees). Serve as the "face" of the local office. Develop local prospects and networks, including identifying sector opportunities and assisting Sector Leaders in pursuing these. - Prioritize competing opportunities to deliver optimal benefit to Davis Langdon, not the local office. - Develop and maintain a strong understanding of local market, environment, clients, current presence and competitors; capture knowledge and share it within PCC. - Ensure that the office is delivering appropriate solutions to our clients, at the right time. - Coordinate with Service Leaders to maximize integration possibilities. - Participate in special studies and focus groups as and when requested. - Serve as the point of contact and arbiter for issues that arise between local sectors or local SLs. Client Service Delivery Account Management - Ensure knowledge of local clients business and objectives, strategic matching of services to needs, and integration delivery of the right solution at the right time. - Ensure that all actual and potential clients in the local area experience the expected, world class quality, services, practices, and values of Davis Langdon. Provide peer review services and monitor QA practices. - Act as client contact and account manager to select clients. - Communicate project /client needs to Resource Leader; in concert with Resource Leader, ensure the best possible match between local client needs and available staff. (Most strategic match and effective use of resources firm wide.) - Collections. Business Development - Ensure client base is consistent with the strategic plan and ensure transparency and coordination with Sectors in pursuit of projects. - Manage business development efforts on a set of targeted local clients, actively pursue sales, and engage the Client Management Program. - Research and seek out most viable local opportunities. Strategically prepare proposals for opportunities that meet Firm's criteria. - Target strategic alliances to support sector growth. - Prepare and make presentations to promote the business. Ensure presence and positioning at high visibility conferences. Managing, Developing, Retaining People - Maintain an interest in staff well-being, motivate and lead. Develop a best employer environment and ensure retention of high performers. Provide leadership and support for all people within the location. - Develop and maintain staffing projections for office. Build local capacity for PCC, working to ensure the local office has an adequate number of high-caliber people as needed to support Sectors and Service Lines; and work with Resource, Sector, and Service Leaders to plan for future resource and capability needs. (Macro forecasting based on trends in "book of business"). - Oversee the recruitment, hiring, development, and appointments of local office talent to support the Sector focus, in collaboration with Board and HR. - Proactively manage people development and employee relations issues, including performance improvement plans, terminations, and workplace conflicts. - Ensure locally housed staff receive training, coaching, feedback, mentoring, and professional development. - Conduct performance reviews and oversee Career Development Program for local office staff, in consultation with Sector and SL Leaders (with the exception of fully dedicated Sector or Service Line staff). - Review non-sector dedicated staff salaries and propose adjustments and bonuses in accordance with firm financial results and the salary structure. Propose candidates for promotion. - Personally develop future local office leaders, including successor. - Advise Human Resources Group of changing technical requirements of local client work. Financials Budgets - Monitor and manage local office financials (scope tbd). - Manage utilization of all dedicated local office staff (ROI). Specific Products, Services, Processes Owned: - Assist to Sector Business Plan with quarterly reviews (and budget) - Proposals for Local - Account Plans for each top 10 clients - Sales tools and support - local market specific - Project retrospectives for local client projects
