The Project Manager role is primarily responsible for ensuring that the IT deliverables of the projects for the Corporate HR Portfolio of projects is integrated with our clients business systems and provides quality delivery.  
  
Working closely with the HR Program Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for IT project delivery team and stakeholder engagement within HR. This will entail full project lifecycle management from project initiation, justification and implementation inclusive of requirements gathering, financial budgeting, documentation, analysis, planning, design, development, testing, reporting and deployment.  
  
The role will require the successful applicant to have a strong understanding of HR processes and have had previous exposure in IT implementations with SAP and non SAP HR applications.  
  
Day to day activities involve management of HR IT initiatives, providing HR advise on processes, understanding business requirements, working in conjunction with HR to build business cases, resource and financial planning, direction for project functional resources, project status reporting, scope management and issue management.  
  
Main Responsibilities  
Working with the HR Program Manager:  

  • Manage IT project delivery within the HR Portfolio of projects  
  • Ensure the development of new IT solutions and/or enhancements contribute to HR overall strategy  
  • Provide subject matter advice on HR integration with HR systems  
  • Determine Requirements, develop business cases and gain approvals for HR technology related projects  
  • Track and Report on project financials  
  • Work with Project Managers to review, map and analyse existing IT applications and systems  
  • Coordinate business resources for project work and delivery eg. user acceptance testing.  
  • Ensure quality outcome for project deliverables and benefits outlined in project business cases  
  • Engagement with project stakeholders, technical and non-technical staff at various levels  
  • Manage Subject Matter Experts from both internal and external resources, as required to meet program and project outcomes  
  • Recording, tracking and resolution of project issues and risks.  
  • Escalation of issues and risks, where appropriate, to senior management.  
  • Work within the IT governance framework and report to the HR Projects Steering Committee  

  
Key Competencies / Skills  
  
Essential  

  • Demonstrable project management experience (5 years +) working on HR IT projects  
  • Experience with SAP (ideally ERP6) HR modules, as well as other HR applications  
  • Experience in managing data cleansing projects  
  • Experience managing small to medium projects and exposure to project management methodologies  
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills  
  • Strong customer focus, leadership and facilitation skills  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in and manage a team  
  • Proactive, driven, innovative and flexible approach  

  
Desirable  

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and industry specific certification eg. Human Resources, Commerce  
  • Formal Project Manager qualifications  
  • Energy utilities experience and/or public sector environment
