About the Job
The Search Marketing Manager assumes ownership of all day-to-day aspects of one of the two primary search term portfolios in Shutterfly’s paid search program. This position presents a unique opportunity to run a large-scale, consumer focused PPC search campaign for a profitable and rapidly growing online business.
To support you in delivering on your goals, you will manage a large keyword portfolio with a multimillion dollar budget, utilize best-in-class tools, and leverage Shutterfly’s world-class analytics organization. This position will be an integral member of the Customer Acquisition team and report to the Director of Search Marketing. The Search Marketing Manager will also work collaboratively across Shutterfly brands to share best practices and coordinate search operations.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated and analytical, with direct experience managing paid search programs and who exhibits a genuine curiosity for and fascination with this rapidly evolving medium. The person in this role will be expected to develop a vision for the evolution and development of the program and drive toward it – establishing and articulating a strong point of view in areas including:
- How can PPC account structure be used to drive long-term return on investment and achieve competitive advantage?
- What is the appropriate use of positive and negative match types – what are the benefits and drawbacks of each and how can they be leveraged in concert?
- What innovative processes and tactics will we implement that will give us a competitive advantage?
- What techniques will we use to understand competitors strategies and how can this intelligence be used to further your own campaign?
- What is the key to uncovering customer insights needed to craft breakout ad copy?
- What AdWords features have the most potential for boosting overall performance and how can they be utilized to their full potential?
- How can we conduct landing page optimization and targeted promotions to drive maximum impact?
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Plan, manage and execute pay-per-click search campaigns. Set out and execute a roadmap to substantially improve the PPC search campaign impact on the business and attract more investment.
- Develop a finely tuned campaign and ad group structure, and define optimal processes for ongoing keyword research, campaign expansion, ad copy optimization, landing page optimization, targeted promotions, and other testing strategies.
- Work closely with Shutterfly’s Analytics team on performance reporting for all paid search efforts including spend, traffic, conversions, number of customers acquired and ROI. Evolve our reporting construct for paid search efficacy and leverage this to attract increased investment.
- Develop a robust test learn plan to improve our search ad creative and landing pages. Make recommendations for on-site changes.
- Develop forecasts, on-going monthly budget management, accrual management and PO payment processing.
- Additional responsibilities as requested by Director.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3 years of experience with direct management of paid search marketing programs.
- BA/BS degree.
- Experience managing budgets, agencies and 3rd party outside vendors.
- Experience with third party bid management and analytics software. Proficient in Omniture, Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing and Microsoft AdCenter .
- Exceptional analytical, planning and project management skills. Strong spreadsheet, word processing and database skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, matrixed environment .
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to effectively multi-task in a deadline driven atmosphere.
