Description

The Sector Head reports to the CIO and works to source, screen, monitor, and manage external hedge funds and/or sub-advisory relationships. The incumbent conducts appropriate investment due diligence on potential new hedge fund investments and/or sub-advisory relationships. There is particular emphasis on the larger and/or most complex funds and investment strategies. The Sector Head assists in new business situations and provides direct ongoing performance reviews with the largest, more sophisticated clients. The incumbent may also develop the junior staff. Additionally the Sector Head participates with the Investment Committee in setting short and long term investment strategies as well as implementation of tactical changes.

Qualifications

In general the Sector Head is a seasoned investment professional, with typically more than eight years of related experience. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) is required; an advanced degree is preferred, with particular emphasis in finance and/or investments. A CFA designation is preferred. Qualified candidates will typically have: Advanced knowledge of the fund of fund business and the investment decision-making process is required. 8+ years work experience in financial services required. Experience in a hedge fund, investment advisor, investment manager or investment bank strongly preferred. Proficiency in MS Office required; Expert excel is required. Proficiency with Bloomberg required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Ability to probe for additional detail required. Extensive knowledge of capital markets, investment products and financial industry is required. The ability to think creatively, and with limited supervision, develop analytics and research of high quality and complexity is required. Critical reasoning and application skills are required. Strong understanding of financial information, statistics and economics. Expertise in interpreting information; strong analytical and quantitative skills required.
