JOB SUMMARY
Officer on foot with explosives detection canine patrols designated areas on client property as a security team. Primary responsibility is to observe and report suspicious incidents while making rounds and while stopping at appropriate stations. If problems are identified the Officer radio’s for appropriate back-up. These teams are intended as a visible presence to deter criminal conduct on client property and to provide better prevention and detection of explosive materials.

- Prepares accurate records and reports in a timely manner.
- Interacts with staff, customers, employees, and the public on a daily basis, ensuring their safety.
3. Patrols assigned sectors and reports in by radio as required.
4. Provides assistance, directions, or information to patrons or personnel.
- Provides crowd control at special events, working turnstiles and other entrances as required.

7. Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner. Must have a high level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality of information based on a “need to know basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY
Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.
Background Prerequisites
- Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- Must be able to complete Dog Training Certification Program
- 5 years prior canine dog handling security experience preferred.
Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing)
- Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
- Must have evidence of ability to successfully partner with a working dog, understanding the psychology, behavioral patterns and Pavlovian theories.
- Must be willing and able to provide a home for canine partner when not at work.
- Ability to train and work with dogs in detecting accelerant and explosive devises in the examination of merchandise, vehicles, and passengers.
- Must have a working knowledge of recognition and proper handling of identified explosives and/or accelerant devices.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.
- Ability to see, hear, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients. Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to be an effective team member.
- Ability to organize workload for effective implementation.
- Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision
- Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

- Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
- May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area.
- May be required to handle various explosive materials and/or flammable combustible liquids.
- May be in contact with hazardous substances, vehicle emission, and arson/bomb scenes.
- May be required to work overtime without advance notice.
- Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for up to 8 hours per day and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
- Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
- Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- May be required to use vehicle in the performance of duties. Vehicles are to include but not limited to: cars, trucks, electric carts and bicycles.
- On occasion may be required to perform stressful physical activity.
- Depending upon assignment may be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· U.S. citizen
· 18 or 21 years of age
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· Must be able to meet state/county licensing requirements for Security Officer
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Courteous telephone manner and customer service skills
· Ability to pass a background check, personality assessment and drug screen
· Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
· 5years prior canine dog handling security experience preferred
