SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Reporting to the Land Controller, the candidate will possess excellent organizational and financial accounting skills. They will be self-motivated, thrive in a learning environment, and be looking to step forward in their career. The successful candidate will be counted on to improve business systems and processes and actively support the objectives of the land group.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the full cycle accounting of the Land Division including month end journal entries, setting up inventory and various account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting package and financial statements.
- Prepare the financial package for reporting to external partners.
- Work with the Land Controller to manage project cash and prepare monthly bank borrowing requests for projects under development.
- Perform analysis to explain variances from budget and forecast.
- Support operations by improving business processes and providing financial information to development managers as required.
Experience and educational requirements:
- Professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) or in the final stages of completion.
- Minimum five years accounting experience
- Proficiency with Excel and Word as well as a background with a major accounting system such as Great Plains or Microsoft Dynamics.
Preference will be given to those candidates with:
- Limited partnership, joint venture and syndication accounting experience
- Land development knowledge
