Senior Accountant Job in Houston 77006, Texas US

Bounce was formed as a true start-up based in Houston, TX and is now one of the largest independent retailers in the Texas electricity market.  We are looking for a Senior Accountant that wants to play a key role in this internal department and gain the unique experience of working within a strong growing start-up.  This job is fast-paced and will be at the center of a dynamic working environment for a rapidly growing business.  Candidates for this position will be eligible for bonus and stock option compensation in addition to salary.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

        Perform monthly financial reporting close functions, including preparation of and posting of journal entries, preparation of financial statements and other analytical reporting.

        Create and maintain other analytical reports related to PL, cash flow, financial projections, collections, expenses and receivables.

        Maintain monthly reconciliation of certain general ledger accounts including cash.

        Manage customer utility deposits, including deposit log maintenance and refunds.

        Manage internal collection efforts and third party collections efforts.

        Manage customer accounts receivable, including working with Billing Coordinator and AR Clerk with account adjustments, credits, processing final bills and reporting.

        Manage accounts payable including working with other members of the organization to ensure timely receipt of invoices, expenses tracking, vendor payments, etc.

        Work with outside parties, including external audit and tax, banking community, regulatory and vendor agencies on a regular basis.

        Generate ideas and action plans for streamlining existing collections, general accounting and reporting, accounts receivable and accounts payable procedures and processes.

        Work with technology as needed to develop and implement changes to internal reports.

        Prepare necessary schedules and supporting documentation for annual external financial audit.

        Assist other areas of the business with tasks and research as needed.

 

Required Experience Skills:

 

        Minimum of 4 years public accounting or 5 years industry experience working with or within a Retail Energy Provider

        Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

        Excellent analytical skills, able to research and resolve issues quickly and independently

        Ability to employ critical thinking and problem solving skills on a consistent basis

        Excellent oral and written communication skills

        Proven expertise in Excel and other Microsoft products

        Licensed CPA or progress toward certification
