Senior Actuary & Director of Insurance Analytics recruitment

Senior member of Standish's LDI Group with primary responsibilities in the development of strategies, tools and reporting in support of defined benefit plan sponsor and other liability-sensitive clients and prospects.  Oversee and improve upon existing liability analysis processes and models being utilized and work with other actuarial resources within the broader BNY organization in these matters. Work in product development for LDI solutions with other members of the investment staff.

In addition to providing analytical actuarial services to individual clients and prospects, this individual will be a key contributor to the development and growth of our business.  This individual will help market our actuarial capabilities, including packaging the models and assisting with appropriate marketing materials.  Participation in prospect meetings requiring travel.

Meets with LDI clients, prospects and consultants to assess plan sponsor's goals, objectives and risk tolerance, and to present Standish's strategic asset allocation analyses and recommendations using a consultative approach. Counsels clients with respect to asset/liability risks and returns, and the development and management of appropriate investment strategy. S/he will specifically: prepare asset/liability studies, update asset/liability analysis models, present asset/liability analysis results, support sales/marketing initiatives, assist in the sales process when needed, develop asset allocation processes, participate in the development of capital market assumptions, prepare thought leadership items (white papers, speaking engagements, sales collateral).

Excellent mathematical, technical and communication skills.  Expertise in asset/liability management in an LDI environment with a strong demonstration of ERISA and FASB rules and regulations; knowledge of the capital markets.

B.S. in relevant field required, Masters degree preferred. Minimum 7 - 10  years experience in financial services and/or benefits consulting. Actuarial (ASA, FSA) and/or CFA designation preferred.
