Senior Actuary – Risk & Actuarial Management recruitment
Due to an International transfer, our client, a Global specialized Insurer is seeking an experienced Actuary to join their Risk Actuarial Management team, which will oversee both Life Non-Life teams.
Reporting to the Regional CRO, this supports the development and execution of the risk strategy for Asia. Providing mentorship to team members on risk management and reserving matters you will be responsible for understanding and assessing business data, performing required actuarial valuations for internal and external purposes and communicating these results to appropriate functional areas. In addition to this your role will also involve the external regulatory sign-offs of quarterly and annual reporting requirements, as well as independent actuarial and risk assessments on transactions and terms of trade, whilst working closely with the CRO Asia on material risk issues.
Key Responsibilities include -
- Guiding the development of Asia-specific risk standards to the extent they are required, in line with those of the group, plus overseeing the region's compliance with these and other relevant Group-wide policies and guidelines
- Providing the Asia Management Team and relevant local committees with full transparency of the risks of the business through regular risk reporting and discussions
- Ensuring timely and quality completion of the main actuarial reserving processes (GAAP, statutory, EVM), including the determination of best estimates as a basis for valuation and as a feedback loop to underwriting/pricing
- Ensuring compliance with all local regulatory/reporting regimes
- Ensuring independent actuarial and risk assessments of transactions and terms of trade
- Representing Risk Management on the Asia President's management team and in regional committees where appropriate
- Promoting risk transparency and fostering risk aware behaviours
Requirements
- Fellow of a recognised Actuarial body
- Solid industry expertise and market knowledge
- Minimum of ten years of post-qualification experience in PC and/or LH re/insurance expertise, and with substantial experience as a statutory/appointed actuary
- Analytical skills, and an ability to handle both conceptual and practical issues, coupled with track record of operating with independence, sound judgment and business acumen
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, particularly across different cultures (Asian diversity) and different functions (eg underwriting, finance, claims)
- Ability and courage to constructively challenge strategic and transactional business propositions, but also the business mind set to be solutions oriented
