SENIOR ANALYST

Position overview and essential responsibilities:

The Senior Analyst will report to the Head of Base Metals Research Forecasts and will form part of a small, growing, team of analysts. The role will primarily focus on (short and long term) market outlooks and demand-side aspects across the base metals, but there will be some flexibility.  The Senior Analyst will contribute to current work and reports on supply/demand and price forecasts and would be expected to manage certain projects and take responsibility for certain areas, as necessary. There will also be significant involvement in the development of current reports and services as they transition onto the company's financial desktop platform. The individual should be comfortable in meeting with clients and in conducting presentations on the relevant markets.  Also, the gathering of primary data and market information from industry contacts and field travel would be necessary part of the job.

The ideal candidate will be a team player, but given the small team-size and the nature of the role, should be also capable of working independently and with minimal supervision.

Required Experience: Solid work experience in the field of commodity research, especially base metals.

Required Skills: Spoken and written English to the level of a native or bilingual speaker. Strong numerical, written and verbal skills in order to be able to assemble and analyse the data captured and to articulate the findings through written research reports and presentations. At a personal level, the qualities required would be a confidant, resourceful self-starter, plus a mind geared to rigorous attention to detail. Fully conversant with Excel, Word, Power Point.

Desired skills:

Knowledge of languages other than English, technical analysis, quantitative/ statistical techniques and elevated IT proficiency.

Education:

Bachelor's degree (ideally, but not necessarily, in economics or a related field) or equivalent.
