Senior Analyst/ Associate Banker, Egypt
Role Overview
The Senior Analyst or Associate Banker will be a core member of the respective Bank's teams working to structure, implement and monitor investments in the Egyptian Natural Resources ('NR') or the Power Energy Utilities ('PEU') sectors, as well as participating in policy dialogue and technical assistance projects in both sectors in support of the Bank's transition mandate.
The successful candidate will provide support to the project preparation process under direct and continuous supervision from NR and/or PEU senior bankers based in London. The key focus will be on the credit and financial review aspects of project development and implementation with special responsibility for financial modelling and analysis. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to assist in the marketing of the Bank's services as well as in the regular monitoring of concluded projects. An Associate Banker may progress to more complex aspects of transaction processing, progressively gaining more responsibilities.
The successful candidate will also be expected to monitor developments in respectively the Egyptian NR and PEU sectors, support senior management in policy dialogue in the sectors and play an important role in building relationships with investors, regulators, policymakers and other stakeholders in both sectors.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- The Senior Analyst or Associate Banker will be responsible for data gathering, work on credit and financial aspects of project development - including financial analysis of companies, production of financial projections and cash-flow models, structuring and monitoring of loan covenants, judgement of performance relative to peers, production of reports required during the project cycle (including implementation and monitoring), liaison with the Bank's internal Credit department and other support units.
- Under supervision from London based senior bankers and other team members, the Senior Analyst or Associate Banker will also be capable of working throughout the whole life cycle of projects both in NR and in PEU sectors. This will be accomplished through marketing, project screening, origination, due diligence, structuring, drafting, negotiation, preparation and monitoring of projects.
- Participate in monitoring of existing investments, including preparation of regular monitoring reports based on meetings with client, site visits, financial review and other research.
- Work on preparation and implementation of Technical Cooperation/Technical Assistance programs.
- Gather and analyse project-related information through research, due diligence and independent inquiry.
- Actively monitor the Egyptian NR and PEU sectors and build and maintain relationships with all key stakeholders.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration, economics, finance).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience for Senior Analyst level and 4-5 years' experience for Associate Banker ofrelevant and commercial work (e.g. banking, corporate finance, private equity or project finance) gained from a major commercial/investment bank, equity fund, advisory services or corporate finance firm.
- Proven analytical and modelling skills; strong financial skills, with ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
- Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis
- Computer literacy, excellent spreadsheet skills.
- Fluency in Arabic. Very good written and oral communication skills in English.
Desirable
- Knowledge of the NR and the PEU sectors is an advantage.

- Flexible in working hours and willingness to travel to and work in EBRD countries of operation.
