Senior Analyst (Fundamental Analysis) recruitment
EDF Energy is the UK's largest low carbon electricity generator that operates a diversified generation portfolio of a power and gas assets portfolio that include nuclear, gas and coal power plants, as well as renewable energy. The Optimisation department is accountable for maximising the gross margin of this portfolio within the risk appetite of the Company.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Analyst to join our Fundamental Analysis team who provide insight into the key drivers onUK electricity prices including underlying fuel prices and the fundamentals of power market supply and demand.
As Senior Analyst you will carry out complex analysis of the key developments in the fundamental drivers ofUKand European power and gas prices. You will be responsible for the development of tools and models used to understand the fundamentals and utilise the output data to provide input into EDF Energy's hedging and optimisation strategies. In addition you will ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed on all developments of the fundamental drivers of theUKand International markets.
As the successful Senior Analyst - Fundamental Analysis you will be able to demonstrate the following qualities:
- A higher degree or higher qualification in a numerical or science discipline (or equivalent work experience)
- Knowledge of the energy markets and the underlying fundamental drivers
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- The ability to manipulate data and provide analytical insight through fundamental models such as Plexos and have a familiarity with STACK models
- A strong skill set in Excel, use of VBA and the ability to use statistical packages such as SPSS
- Attention to detail
- An innovative approach to problem solving skills.
