Looking for a position where you have an opportunity to work with new technologies, and actively participate in design and project decisions? This senior application development position may be for you. This position reports to the Enterprise Systems Services (ESS) Development Lead within the Office of Information Technology at West Virginia University. This position will actively participate in application support to existing and development of new systems utilizing current and cutting edge Java and Oracle technologies; make recommendations to management and users that improve overall system efficiency and compliance with federal, state, and university guidelines; research, design, and develop large and small information technology projects critical to the mission of administrative and academic areas of the University; and ensure that development standards are followed, processes are documented and sensitive data remains secure. Technical Skills desired include: Experience with Java versions 1.5 or higher; Experience with Java technologies (including but not limited to Spring, Hibernate, JSF, Facelets, Servlets, Maven); Experience with Oracle 10g and above, Oracle application server, and PL/SQL; Experience with web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XHTML; Experience with one or more IDEs (including but not limited to Oracle JDeveloper, Eclipse, Netbeans); Experience with basic object-oriented concepts, object-relation mapping, MVC style web architecture; Experience in delivering and supporting web-based applications with stringent security requirements; Strong system development life cycle (SDLC) skills: planning and feasibility, system analysis, system design, implementation, integration and testing, deployment, and maintenance of highly complex (business intelligence/information systems) or (database driven web applications); Experience using version control systems such as CVS or Subversion; In depth knowledge of general office software including word-processing, database, and spreadsheet applications (prefer Microsoft Office including Word, Access, and Excel); Technical supervisory or project management experience preferred.
