Senior Application Engineer - Java / OO
Job Description
We are looking for a senior application engineer to work in a team with IT specialists and business analysts that provide solutions for global IT projects. The role involves building operational systems for the Finance Division which is used to generate accounting and reporting information.
Analyzing, designing and implementing high-end applications on the mainframe with interfaces to the data warehouse and other underwriter/actuary systems will be one of your main task. Beside that
you will be also involved in the operational support and maintenance of the application.
In addition to constantly developing knowledge of IT methods, tools and trends in the business, you will cooperate transparently and pro-actively with the project leader and other team members at various locations, promoting close teamwork within the project and the department. With your experience in taking project responsibilities you feel comfortable in deputize the IT team leader in discussions and Project Management tasks.
Requirements
- University degree in computer science, mathematics or technical foundation, high level of IT qualification and several years' experience in IT system development / programming.
- Object-Oriented software development (Java, J2EE, Eclipse, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, XML).
- Open to work (analyze, understand, replace) with legacy systems (Cobol).
- Design and maintenance of relational data model and databases (DB2 in place).
- Ability to understand and challenge business requirements and transform these into technical designs.
- A high degree of independence and quality awareness as well as target-oriented working methods.
- Team-player, willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit.
- Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment.
- Ability to grasp new concepts quickly, see the big picture and apply ideas to specific situations.
- Strong command of English language verbal and written.
