We are currently seeking a Senior Applications Engineer I/II to support the Material Handling Solutions Division in the Tupelo, Mississippi area.
Job Description:
The Sr. Applications Engineer I/II will provide technical support on the selection and pricing of equipment specific to customer applications for both new and existing products. This individual will also use established cost models, software and pricing directives to maintain or exceed gross margin and revenue targets within product line budget. Under general direction from the Applications Supervisor/Product Line Manager, the individual will also prepare proposals for and accept orders from customers that are highly consequential to the company within the established guidelines for pricing, gross margin and equipment performance. The individual must be capable of making assessments as to the risk of unfamiliar applications while displaying an ability to know when to seek engineering assistance. The individual will become involved in evaluating progressively larger and more complex applications as product knowledge and experience is attained and will work more and more independently. The individual must feel confident in dealing with customer issues while traveling. The individual will be expected to make decisions within the scope of our business policies offering proven techniques and solutions to standard and moderately complex customer applications. The Applications Supervisor/Product Line Manager will provide monthly business financials feedback on GM, EBIT, Warranty and customer feedback to individual to ensure an understanding of the impact market pricing and equipment selection process has on business performance.
Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for selecting equipment, preparing quotation proposals, and assisting in closing sales that are optimal for a specific customer applications that fall within standard and variations on standard design parameters.
Drive and facilitate the definition of key customer requirements in support of quotation generation through to order acceptance.
Provide customer-focused application detail to MHS project team including engineers and sales people to facilitate and optimize the quotation process.
Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing on open orders to ensure timely customer response.
Provide customer-focused post-sales application engineering support and troubleshooting via internet, telephone and field service support.
Gather, interpret, and communicate within the organization information related to market situation, competitors, and industry trends, maintaining an awareness for business opportunities.
Utilize all calculation tools effectively for all vibratory products including screens. Must have acquired significant knowledge on materials, particle size and design variations and the affects on system operation and performance in order to quote applications more effectively.
Will provide solutions to more complex customer applications through an in depth understanding of product flow and equipment design characteristics.
Assists sales personnel in customer presentations when requested including site visits to derive customer application needs.
Assigned key account responsibility in order to build a strong knowledge of customer contacts and application requirements.
Conduct technical training for FMC applications and customer service personnel.
Conduct technical training for customers either at FMC site or customer location.
Works independently with minimal supervision to support application engineering function.
Will be required to perform other assignments, tasks, or duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Required Experience:
A mechanical aptitude and ease with financial analysis
Blueprint reading skills required
Must be computer literate and familiar with the use of business software (prefer FMC systems, i.e. Syteline, Microsoft Office)
Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both speech and writing
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision while demonstrating decision making skills as required
Required Education:
BS in Engineering with 5-10 or more years related technical experience

Internal contact with all departments including Customer Service, Engineering, Manufacturing and Territory Managers as well as external contact with customers is required
Work Environment
Plant manufacturing and office environments are typical work environments. Operations hazard exposures exist due to overall scope of position. Eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes and other PPE may be required.
Physical Demands
Frequent sitting while working at desk or computer; Ability and willingness to travel and must have a complete understanding of MSHA standards and mine site visitor regulations. Ability to handle heavy and diverse workload including overtime as needed.
