Senior Asset Management Vendor Sales Director

This is an exceptional, senior level sales-focused position with one of our data-vendor clients focused on promoting client products to the investment community in Australia and NZ. Ideally our client is seeking a senior level salesperson with a strong background in sales or relationship management working with asset managers, fund managers, hedge funds, super funds and/or custodians.

A strong background in sales or relationship management would be required, and a proven track record in sales delivery at a senior level would be ideal.

Applicants with senior level stakeholder management within an asset management, superannuation or custody sales role would be a good fit. Any experience working with [or directly for] a data/vendor provider would be an added bonus, although we don’t regard this as a prerequisite.

A suitable applicant will be degree qualified, possibly with an MBA, and have around 10-20 years of post-university education. Salary will be variable depending on directly relevant asset management sales experience and client relationships that can be brought to the role; although our client has given us a guide of circa $220k AUD plus an indicative bonus of 15-25% per annum.

Position overview:
Our client is looking to recruit a senior level sales and relationship manager to lead the asset management client team in the Pacific region (Australia and New Zealand). The individual will sit on the asset management client Asia Leadership Team, and will be responsible for driving all aspects of the asset management client business and strategy in the region.

The asset management client segment plays a key role in the overall strategy to connect with the global financial community and is pivotal in the buy-side strategy of linking the pre-trade, trade and post-trade components of the buy-side. The asset management client section is particularly focused on the pre-trade and the post -trade elements of the strategy, and serves the Hedge Fund, Asset Management, Wealth Management, Investment Banking, Sell Side Research and Middle/Back Office Reporting customer segments.

Responsibilities:
• Drive the asset management client revenue performance in Australia NZ, partnering with Sales to execute on strategies targeted to clients in the region
• Formulate and execute the asset management client strategy in the region, including MA and Partnerships
• Ensure delivery of the asset management client business priorities and local go-to-market strategy for Australia NZ
• Lead large customer negotiations.
• Monitor the financial reporting planning for asset management client in the region
• Manage asset management client group team(5 direct reports, 5 dotted line) based in Sydney, including development and retention of top and high-potential talent
• Connect regularly with stakeholders from other parts of the business to convey local needs and execute global business plans

Key Attributes:
• Understanding of financial services industry and customer segments (Hedge Fund, Asset Management, Wealth Management, Investment Banking, Sell Side Research and Middle/Back Office Reporting) and the financial tools they use
• Senior level sales and client relationship experience
• Experience managing and operating in a matrix organisation, including stakeholder engagement and influencing management
• Proactive and extremely execution focussed
• Hungry for career development and advancement
• B2B sales experience/exposure a plus

The ideal candidate will have a combination of the above attributes, with a key requirement being experience in the financial services / market data industry. MBA or Masters degree qualified preferred.
