Suncorp's Internal Audit division provides independent assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls to the various Boards, Board Committee's, Group Executives, external auditors and regulatory bodies. Internal Audit also provides risk management and internal control advice to business units.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Auditor/Manager to join our Auckland office to support the Personal Insurance and Vero New Zealand lines of business (LoB). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major Insurance business and work in an environment with a high degree of autonomy and senior stakeholder relationship development and management.
You will have proven experience within Financial Services and ideally general insurance audit with demonstrated capability in the development of annual audit plans and provision of expert advice to the business around internal control, risk management and compliance issues. Your role will also involve the management of audit team members, specific audit projects, reviews and special audit functions and liaison with External Audit providers.
Critical to your success will be your significant depth of audit knowledge, the ability to lead and mentor high performing individuals and to build credibility and trust both within the wider Internal Audit team, Group Risk divisions and LoB to contribute to the operation of the Three Lines of Defence Model within Suncorp.
Key capabilities:
- Excellent project management skills with an achievement and delivery focus;
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage end-to-end audit projects including scheduling and work allocation; and ability to conduct hands-on audit assignments as required;
- Advanced understanding and ability to analyse and provide expert advice on business risks across a complex and diverse business and specifically within insurance and wealth management;
- Proven ability to engage with and communicate at senior level with demonstrated awareness of key insurance business levers and a pragmatic view on what is business critical and what is not; and
- Understanding of audit regulatory and legislative changes and implications.
Essential qualifications and experience will include:
- Degree in finance, accounting or related discipline essential with relevant professional qualifications eg IIA, ICAA, ISACC or CPA preferred and post graduate qualifications (MBA, MA Finance/Commerce) ideal;
- Extensive internal and/or external audit experience (minimum 10 years) with specific experience within Financial Services mandatory, and General Insurance and/or Life Insurance preferred;
- Ability to work immediately within the Financial Services Internal Audit environment with minimal training essential; and
- Availability to travel across New Zealand and to Australia as required.
