Responsibilities
The position is one of Moody's most senior credit analyst roles (Moody's VP) in the Asia Pacific region.
The key responsibilities are the analysis and ratings of a portfolio of Asian banks as well as the origination and publication of insightful research on banking industry trends in the region. Related duties are the management of the ratings and research origination process and the supervision of junior analysts supporting the senior bank credit analyst.
It is envisaged that the portfolio will include some of Asia's most complex and high-profile banks. It is essential, therefore, that the analyst has sufficient experience, analytical depth and credibility to handle what is expected to be a demanding portfolio in terms of issuer and investor interaction.
The role involves conducting analysis of the credit profile of individual banks, developing in-depth knowledge of regional financial systems, and regularly writing research reports providing investors with directional opinions on developing trends relevant to a forward-looking assessment of bank credit risks. Also, this senior role requires frequent interaction with investors, intermediaries and issuers, thus requiring excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor credit profile of rated banks.
- Follow through new rating requests and assign new ratings.
- Write accurate, insightful and focused credit research of a high quality.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the banks and systems assigned.
- Build and maintain high profile relationships with investors and issuers, and other market participants.
- Present credits effectively and comprehensively in rating committees and other internal analytical meetings.
- Present in public forum Moody's credit opinions on relevant banking topics.
Qualifications
- At least 15 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proven credit assessment experience gained from a financial institution, asset manager, public accounting firm or regulatory body.
- Demonstrated experience in the origination and publication of research.
- Solid understanding of macro economy and the linkages with the banking sector
- Understanding of complex transaction structures, with exposure to documentation review.
- Some experience of management and potential to be a Moody's manager in the future would be a plus.
- Strong academic background with good accounting and financial analysis skills
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong quantitative aptitude and demonstrated analytical ability.
- Strong organizational skills with sound judgment.
- Mature and balanced personality with ability to represent the Moody's brand effectively at senior level.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the region.
