Responsibilities
Columbia Management, a division of Ameriprise Financial, is seeking a Senior Business Analyst
- Alternatives to provide technical, analytical, and quantitative support to the Alternatives team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Enhance, support, and maintain existing applications and reporting.
* Develop new applications and reporting.
* Maintain, support, and monitor existing batch jobs.
* Query, filter, sort, and group large volumes of data from department databases.
* Conduct regular trade attribution reporting and analysis.
* Work directly with senior investment management professionals to gather requirements, problem solve, and communicate status and results of current projects.
Required Qualifications
* 5 years or more experience working with SQL, VB.Net and/or C#, SSIS or other ETL tool, Visual Studio, and SQL Server or other relational database.
* 5 years or more experience working with Excel, Access, Word, and automating using VBA and macros.
* Strong understanding and experience working with large datasets, XML, and text files.
* Strong understanding and experience joining multiple data sources together to create a new dataset or report.
* Experience working with Bloomberg.
* BA or BS degree in MIS, Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or other field plus equivalent experience.
* Proven attention to detail, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to analyze large volumes of data and evaluate for reasonableness.
* Strong communication and organizational skills.
* High level of initiative and motivation.
Preferred Qualifications
* 5 years or more experience in the financial services industry.
* Progress towards CFA.
