Senior Business Analyst (Platts)

Platts is a leading global provider of energy, petrochemicals, metals and agriculture information, and a premier source of benchmark price assessments for those commodity markets. Platts publishes news, commentary, market data and analysis, and thousands of daily assessments that are widely used as benchmarks in the physical and futures markets. Its products and services include real-time news and price information; end-of-day market data; newsletters and reports; geospatial data and maps; conferences; and a weekly television program broadcast in the U.S. and online.

 

The Senior Business Analyst will support the Project Manager and business work stream leaders across multiple work streams as part of  Project Readiness; a major initiative to ensure that Platts are seen to meet IOSCO Principles in the forthcoming external audit.

 

Accountabilities:

·         Collaborate and effectively work with multiple departments and stakeholders from across the organization to negotiate and establish priorities

·         Establish and execute implementation activities including; coordinating the gathering of user requirements, business process modeling, developing user training programs and driving user adoption.

·         Gathering user requirements and gap analyses by analysing business and information technology processes. This includes reviewing existing documentation, soliciting user requirements through interviews and workshops, and researching industry standards to determine best practices in specified areas.

·         Documenting "As Is" and "To Be" processes at both high and low levels. Artifacts include process flows, Business Requirements Documents, Functional Requirements Documents and Use Cases. These artifacts document user / system interactions for specific system features and functions, help define new workflows, and help identify potential issues with the proposed solution(s).

·         Perform detailed data analysis and develop metrics for on-going monitoring of key functionality

Other Required Accountabilities:

·         Builds and manages relationships with business participants / project stakeholders

·         Reviews requirements in light of local / regional / global impact

·         Provides perspective for proactive risk management and conflict resolution

·         Facilitates the design and/or re-engineering of workflows and creation of process models

·         Delivers project communications and presentations

·         Provides project metrics used to assess project progress and ensures quality metrics are met

Quantitative Dimensions:

·         Drive improved project execution by implementation of key work stream tasks

·         Specific mapping exercises e.g. non-oil assessments to methodologies

·         Conversion of assessments to new template

·         Creation delivery of training material for new processes

Qualifications

Required:

·         Significant business analysis experience

·         An understanding of the Securities and Futures markets is extremely beneficial

·         Strong analytical skills

·         Extremely strong communications / influencing skills, both written and verbal.

·         Ability to work in a matrix environment and to use influencing skills to build consensus among disparate stakeholders.

·         Ability to work independently.

·         In-depth knowledge of Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

·         Ability to think strategically.
