Senior Business Analyst PMO COE
Job Summary
The Senior Business Analyst for the COE will conduct work which includes gap analysis, process analysis, and formulation of detailed business requirements, creation and/or modification of procedures for Head Office, creation of project plans, management of day-to-day tasks on projects; preparation and conduction of application tests. The successful candidate should understand PMI, ITIL, CMMI to be able to work well in a fast paced team environment.
The Senior Business Analyst must have the ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
Job Description
Be the voice of the COE and SME as it relates to Project Management Functions and delivery
Undertake the analysis and definition of the business processes, documentation of workflows, reporting requirements and operational controls required to administer the PMO products and services.
Work with lines of business executives, coordinators, technology partners, third party suppliers in all phases of the life cycle from
Create or provide input into documentation of User and or Procedures, to support the development of operating procedures
User support to development or 3rd party providers of technical specifications and systems requirements
• Elicit business requirements from all stakeholders
Document business requirements and ensure all stakeholders align; including but not limited to detailed requirements, use cases, data dictionaries, reporting and UI needs
• Translate business requirements into functional, non-functional and system requirements
• Review business, functional, non-functional and system requirements with business stakeholders
• Gain consensus and signoff on the requirement documents
• Translate business requirements into Use Cases and / or User Interface Design documentation
• Review Use Cases and / or User Interface Design with stakeholder primes to ensure understanding of requirements
• Support development team in preparation of technical specifications to ensure adherence to business, functional and non-functional requirements
• Manage traceability of business requirements from development to UAT acceptance
• Compile and document UAT test cases on behalf of the COE
• Review UAT test cases with business stakeholders
• Gain consensus and signoff on UAT test cases and final end product
• Could involve Configuration of test environment engagement
• May execute UAT test cases
• Document defects and drive to resolution by acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and development teams
• Elicit, validate and document “as is” business process with SMEs
• Compile and document “to be” business process using the business requirements
• Review “to be” business process with business stakeholders to gain consensus
• Ability to manage expectations of the stakeholders - technical, non-technical, business
• Implementation support for client deployment
• Ability to compile and estimate work packages
• Co-ordinate and plan work package delivery for more than 1 BA
• Impact assessment for project change requests (PCR)
• Negotiate and manage scope change into the project
• Escalation point to manage and resolve risks and issues
Requirements
• 7-10 years BA acumen
• 5 to 7 years Project Management acumen,
• Specialized knowledge of business process design, data processing, hard ware and software applications.
• Working knowledge and experience with Functional Analysis elicitation and documentation techniques – JAD, Use Cases, UML
• Experience with writing SQL queries, Microsoft Share Point, Excel, Visio, Enterprise Microsoft Project Management, Microsoft Project Management, Visio, and other BA tools
• SME, as related to required industry-knowledge
• Superior client management skills
• Post Secondary Education in computer science or related area.
• PMP certification is considered an asset, Six Sigma or BA certification is a must
• Knowledge of project Management techniques and tools
• Excellent communicator and personable.
• Goal oriented and action-focused.
• Able to build consensus, using team dynamics to get positive outcomes.
• Resilient, persistent and flexible.
• Manage inevitable conflicts with tact and diplomacy.
• Negotiating/influencing Skills.
• MS office and MS Project competency
• Financial Institution experience is an asset.
• Sound knowledge and experience in systems analysis and design with the ability to plan and facilitate end user design workshops
• Proven strategic thinking and creative problem solving combined with exceptional tactical implementation and project management skills
• Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills; solid business analysis with the ability to effectively facilitate group discussion and build consensus
