Senior Business Analyst – Quality Assurance recruitment
Purpose of the job:
The Business Applications group manages a portfolio of projects and products in the areas of business administration (PeopleSoft HR, Finance and CMA), statistical processing (in-house C# applications for the Monetary and Economics Department), collaboration and operational intelligence (the Bank’s document management system, business intelligence and business process modelling) and banking and financial messaging (back office applications).
The Senior Business Analyst – Quality Assurance fosters and promotes sound IT quality assurance practices and tools across the Bank. S/he also coordinates and/or contributes to quality assurance activities for critical IT projects.
Principal accountabilities:
Strategy:
- Provides a clear vision on how to improve the efficiency and reliability of IT quality assurance processes
Quality assurance and change management:
- Prepares, or assists project teams in preparing, test strategies, test plans and test scripts; records software defects; coordinates with the Release Management to ensure that high quality and accuracy are maintained throughout software life cycles
- Promotes the use of unit tests and continuous integration testing among developers
- Executes functional testing and supports user acceptance testing to ensure high quality standards for software releases
- Contributes to the development of relevant release documentation
- Ensures the provision of quality assurance services and tools (eg administering JIRA, developing a repository of test plans, exploring options for test automation)
- Develops metrics to assess the quality of IT deliverables and acceptance criteria
Project management:
- Acts as an expert adviser on planning and coordinating complex quality assurance activities in IT project
- May be required to manage projects and their budgets, in accordance with BIS project methodology
Business processes, analysis and requirements specification:
- Defines and documents business area processes. Gathers, analyses and articulates the business requirements where IT solutions seem appropriate. Identifies, plans and coordinates the implementation of IT solutions to meet business requirements within the framework of the IT work plan and the Bank’s strategic IT platforms.
Qualification:
- University degree or equivalent experience
Skills and experience:
- At least five years’ work experience as a quality assurance manager, ideally complemented with previous experience as a business analyst and/or developer
- Strong knowledge of quality assurance practices and available technologies (JIRA, NUnit, test plan repositories, etc)
- Advanced knowledge of sound industry practices and tools for quality assurance of IT applications (projects and product maintenance), with a professional certification in quality assurance an asset
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills; service-oriented; able to tailor services to business units or systems
- Good knowledge of software development life cycle and project management processes (both traditional and Scrum)
- Good knowledge of tools for automated testing
- Persistent and able to promote sound practices across the organisation
- Quick learner; able to quickly acquire specific functional knowledge required to organise and contribute to quality assurance activities
- Very good communication and presentation skills; ability to establish strong working relationships with IMS and business areas
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
The BIS employs staff on both open-ended and fixed-term contracts. However, all new entrants are initially recruited on a fixed-term basis.
