As a Senior Buyer, this is your unique opportunity to set your mark and live on the leading edge. This position is responsible for the development and ownership of the strategic sourcing strategy for assigned materials, components and/or services. Also it is responsible for overall supplier performance with respect to cost, quality, delivery, service and innovation. The Senior Buyer manages supplier relationships and is responsible for supply security and negotiations. This position will Prepare and evaluate supplier quotations and services to determine most competitive solution based upon total cost of ownership. This role will apply experience in a variety of purchasing concepts, practices, and procedures. The Senior Buyer will rely on experience and judgment to resolve problems and communicate effectively while leading complex sourcing projects and supplier performance reviews.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
· Drive the procurement process to secure goods/services in the assigned area of spend to ensure competitiveness and to limit risk for Kohler.
· Develop the sourcing strategy within assigned areas of spend.
· Lead the supplier approval and management process.
· Maintain required records such as quotes, price lists, tooling, supplier correspondence, contracts, and purchasing metric dashboards.
· Interact with cross-divisional and cross regional buyers, supplier quality, materials management, engineering and operations as part of the supplier management process.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations or Supply Chain Management.
· Six years of professional experience and two years of purchasing experience.
· A wide degree of creativity, flexibility and ability to operate autonomously is required.
· Exhibit skill in developing managing contingency plans, risk factors, and interdependencies. Also Exhibit ability to build detailed project plans, including, time, resource requirements, budget and deliverables.
· Exhibit general understanding of computer network technology B2B applications. Demonstrate methods for streamlined supplier connectivity.
SKILL PREFERENCES – HOW YOU CAN STAND OUT
· Ability to construct and manage complex, sophisticated arrangements, create unique terms conditions for legal review, and develop negotiation strategies.
· Understanding of domestic and international business law with working knowledge of intellectual property.
· Capable of creating market/industry supply demand models, build detailed supplier should cost models, and calculate the total cost of ownership including non-monetary values. Proficient in managing/leading multi-location/global projects, with experience in managing spend and material/services supplied by domestic and international suppliers.
· Possess awareness of culture, currency, geography, and political environments through international exposure and experience with international suppliers.
· Demonstrate unaided capture/creation of a project scope, achievement of original project milestones and timeframes. Management of multi-location projects with the ability to marshal adequate project resources and project champion.
· Experience with developing cross-functional area relationships and participating on cross-functional teams to achieve common goal. Take an active role in the supporting team and developing the action plan. Contribute to positive morale within a team.
