Senior Claims Adjuster
Full Job Description
- Advise Underwriters of significant claims and liaise with Manager.
- Ensure that reserving is correctly maintained and properly audited.
- Appoint and control surveyors, adjusters and lawyers as required to ensure timely intervention and mitigation of claims.
- Assess and adjust claims in relation to policy coverage.
- Take advantage of most expeditious settlement opportunities.
- Ensure that reserves are maintained on a realistic basis that reflects the likely ultimate exposure.
- Review cases for prospective recovery opportunities.
- Liaise with Underwriters in respect of business written and maybe written. Advise on claim trends, major incidents and generally provide them with information that will assist with writing a profitable book of business.
- Provide technical support for underwriters.
- Ensure large loss reports are issued within 5 working days for all claims in excess of US$250,000 gross and pass to line manager
- Arrange claim payments.
- Maintain proper claim records in system.
- Monitor outstanding claims to avoid delays that might impact upon correct reserving and ensure that there is continuity between respective systems.
- Liaise with finance department for claim payments and related matters.
- Attend market claims meetings.
- Reasonable standard of education
- Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of Insurance and related issues through form and informal learning
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload and meeting deadlines and that of the team
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers
- Knowledge of general insurance and its underlying principles
- Knowledge of FSA rules and guidelines relating to commercial and-or private customers

£45,000 - £75,000.
