Senior Claims Manager – Reinsurance recruitment
The purpose of this position is to manage a portfolio of reinsurance claims within a captive and run-off environment. The incumbent will also be in charge of commuting inward and outward reinsurance contracts.
The potential candidate will be responsible for the following:
- To apply a high level of reinsurance technical knowledge to the processing of claims payments and recoveries, as well as to ensure the organisation’s reinsurance asset is fully pursued.
- To prepare claims for commutation, be able to negotiate commutation settlements and put forward compelling arguments for the company’s position.
- Ensure that the service level agreement standards with the business unit clients are met. Take responsibility for resolving client issues and build a strong customer focus as well as achieve positive results by working closely with the underwriting and client managers as well as other support staff. You will also be responsible for facilitating reinsurance audits and reviews of cedants claims.
- Ensure reinsurance programmes are aligned with claims recovery process.
- You will provide mentoring and technical advice to fellow claims staff
The incumbent should hold a Bachelors degree, with relevant local insurance qualifications and a minimum of 6 years of work experience in the claims division of the local insurance/reinsurance market.
You should be highly analytical, with excellent numerical and communication skills. You will also be able to manage your own work effectively with minimum supervision. The incumbent should be able to demonstrate the ability to quickly analyse information and act on it appropriately as well as work independently and take action to resolve unusual issues. A good knowledge of SAP and Excel will be highly desirable.
