Senior Commodities Strategist
Founded in 1998, Resource Capital Funds (RCF) is a private equity fund with mandates to make investments exclusively in the mining sector across a diversified range of mineral commodities and geographic regions. RCF pioneered this concept and has succeeded in delivering leading returns to its investors, portfolio companies and fellow equity investors.
RCF are seeking a high calibre individual who will report to the Managing Partner. The position will provide fundamental advice and analysis to RCF internally and represent RCF externally at both a micro and macro level, specifically pertaining to mining and resources related commodities and their broader economic impact. More specifically, the role will analyse and advise on mineral sources, production capacity and capability, and potential global demand and pricing. In order to effectively advise the Managing Partner, investment teams and the investment committee, extensive travel will be required to network and increase his/her knowledge on relevant matters.
The successful candidate must have the ability to influence various audiences that are critical to the company's success .These external audiences will include key public, private, government and non-government institutions, especially in North America and Australia, but also in Europe, Africa and South America. As such, extensive travel will be required to ensure optimal success in this role. The position will deal with domestic and international issues related to commodity supply and demand and global growth trends. The position will also require the successful candidate to be highly visible as an advocate in matters of interest to RCF, namely: medium and long-term pricing; regional growth trends; and tailored investment structures which may have regional appeal.
Key Selection Criteria for this role:
- A Master's degree or higher in Economics
- Ability to demonstrate an exceptional educational record
- 15 years of experience in economic research, with a focus on mineral commodities
- Specialisation in mining and minerals, with a demonstrated ability to consider the strategic environment of commodities with a five year time horizon
- High and proven intellectual and analytical capacity
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience in delivering commodity presentations and speaking to large audiences
- Strong networking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with peers in the industry, academia and other relevant groups internationally
