Senior Commodity Research
Our client is an international financial institution that is very highly involved in many facets of the metals, bulks and energy markets. It is consistently regarded as a leader in commodity trading and analysis and also supports the mining and oil/gas industry on a global basis through the provision of financial services. An opportunity has arisen for a person to join the research team; the position will be based in Sydney. You will have direct responsibilities for the thorough analysis of Bulk Commodities and Metals, if you do have exposure to oil and gas that would also be well received.
Responsibilities include:
• Research of Australian and APAC , Coal, Iron Ore, Gold, Base Metals markets, relevant country economics, and related industries.
• Extensive financial modelling of market price movements on APAC economies and commodity market participants
• Production of regular commodity research reports for both customer and public attention.
• Presenting to small and large groups, presentations at company and industry sponsored events. This would involve some travel.
Experience required
• Minimum ten years in a commodity related environment, either in economics research, commodity research, equity research or equivalent experience gained in a mining/oil/gas company.
• Very strong writing and client facing skills
• Strong financial modeling skills
• “Hands on” experience of commodity trading a bonus.
