JOB DESCRIPTION: Senior Control Officer Head of Operations
POSITION SUMMARY
This is an executive position with a Board seat in the Management of Credit Suisse Securities (Malaysia) Snd Bhd (the Company). The primary role is to ensure that the Company’s daily business operations runs smoothly and is in full compliance with the relevant authorities rules and regulations in order to achieve the Company’s mission and strategy. The incumbent in this role reports to Credit Suisse Regional Management for Operations with primary responsibility for the Operations Department and oversight responsibilities for support functions in the KL office.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory Control
• Plan, manage and oversee all operational activities efficiently and effectively by exercising strict supervision on the overall operation of its business activities and for this purpose shall maintain a proper and adequate supervisory and compliance system with a view to prevent any contravention of the Securities laws, Rules of KLSE, MCD Rules, Clearing House Rules, internal policies and procedures and any other relevant rules regulations.
• Oversee the smooth operation of the following departments - Operations, IT, Financial Accounting and Facilities. Recommend and implement directives/policies from Board of Directors in order to achieve the Company’s business objectives.
• Review policies and procedures of the company to ensure continued compliance with relevant rules and regulations and changes to the same.
• Liaise with authorities/other parties on behalf of the Company and attend meetings with Association of Stockbrokers/BURSA/SC, and ensure accurate reports are submitted to the relevant authorities within the stipulated time.
• Liaise with the regulators continually to ensure they are informed of CS strategy and maintain relationships with the external auditors and meet with them regularly to discuss legal entity, control and regulatory matters
• Identify, monitor and manage possible risk exposures.
• Chair the Country Control Committee and sit on other committees as determined by the Board of Directors, e.g. Risk Management Committee, country-level Shared Services Committees or other Forums as applicable.
• Support the Country Manager in his role as the senior manager and legal representative in that country with respect to all CS legal entities and related operating activities, ensuring that local regulatory, control and legal entity management issues such as breaches of regulations, regulatory inspections, fines and penalties imposed, loss/suspension of licenses, etc.; are resolved in a timely manner and escalated to the Country CEO / Country Manager, APAC Regional/ Global Management and Divisional and Shared Services regional management, GC when appropriate. Coordinate regulatory inspections/inquiries (including exchange memberships) and maintain final disposition log or files.
Operations Specific
• Sit on the Board of Directors as the Executive Director of Operations.
• Oversee the daily Operations function which includes defining the procedures and checklists for Operations, ensuring that all risk are identified and mitigated via adequate controls and processes, effectively manage resources/ capacity, and seek to establish the best of breed and cost efficient IT infrastructure suitable for the Operations processes.
• Define the business requirements and play an active role in vendor system application selection process
• Co-ordinate efforts of the local settlement team with the regional office as well as provide consistent interface with other Departments.
• Ensure compliance with all internal / external policies / guidelines and where required, liaise with regulators and internal Audit, ensuring optimal relationship.
• Set, define, promote and help deliver all processing change in accordance with a clearly communicated strategy.
• Human Capital; actively manage the hire, termination, performance review, employee engagement, learning development of staff, promotion and compensation processes to ensure local consistency and fairness across department.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST POSSESS:
• Minimum 12 Years’ experience in Operations, which must include Securities Ops experience
• Demonstrates strong control mindset
• Possess in-depth understanding and experience of Malaysian banking regulatory environment (BURSA SAHAM)
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, or equivalent. Major in Economics, Finance/Accountancy/Banking preferred.
• Proven leadership/team building experience in managing dynamic teams in fast moving banking environment
• Highly driven with strong interpersonal skills and a hands on approach
