The E-Gas Technology business in the Commercial Power Generation and Technology organization is responsible for developing E-Gas coal/petcoke gasification technology-based projects for ConocoPhillips and for licensing the proprietary E-Gas gasification technology to 3rd parties. The E-Gas gasification technology can be utilized in Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle plants, Substitute Natural Gas plants, and Coal to Liquids/Chemical plants and is uniquely designed to support gasification-based Carbon, Capture and Storage projects. The E-Gas Engineering group supports the E-Gas business goals by providing engineering design services throughout the project life cycle from the Process Design Package and FEED, through Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Start-up.
The Senior Controls Engineer will participate on Process Design Package (PDP) Teams with other engineering disciplines to prepare PDPs for the E-Gas Technology Battery Limits (TBL) including the Slurry Preparation, Gasification, High Temperature Heat Recovery, Slag Handling, Syngas Scrubbing and Recycle Compressor areas. The Senior Controls Engineer will prepare process control engineering deliverables for the PDP including: Complex control narratives based on advanced automation design; Cause and effect tables; Specialty instrument and analyzer data sheets; Control system I/O database; and Instrumentation on PIDs.
 
When the PDP is completed the Senior Controls Engineer will continue working on the project throughout FEED and EPC contract execution and participate in Process Hazards Analyses, LOPA and SIL evaluations. In addition the Senior Controls Engineer will interface with the FEED and EPC contractors to ensure the E-Gas control systems work with the downstream non-TBL processes including CO shift, acid gas removal, methanation and combined cycle power plant systems. Following engineering design, the Senior Controls Engineer will work directly with the EPC contractor and the selected automation contractors to participate in control system Factory and Site Acceptance Tests and other site-based control system commissioning and start-up activities.
