Senior Credit Officer – Director

Reporting to the Global Head of Credit Risk, the Senior Credit Officer will have responsibility for credit reviews of new and existing counterparties/clients/securities issuers, preparing credit risk limit applications, monitoring limit excesses and exposure concentrations and analysis of credit exposures arising in the course of daily activities such as derivatives trading across FX, Fixed Income, Equities and Commodities as well as through traditional banking activities such as debt origination. The role requires the ability to recognise transaction associated risks as well as grasping and enforcing risk policies, awareness of legal, compliance and reputational aspects of all transactions, and have a solid understanding of market risk concepts. The jobholder will provide guidance and recommendations to the Front Office with regard to deal structuring and available risk mitigants, including credit terms for master trading agreements. There will be a regional risk portfolio under management which will require close oversight, ensuring daily exposure to all types of loan-type products, liaison with sales and traders as well as extensive interaction with all support functions. The incumbent will closely monitor early warning signals in relevant financial markets and have additional responsibilities including assisting new product development, evaluation of region-specific credit-related needs and providing other groups within the bank with an insight into regional credits, ensuring that risk taking in the geography is prudent and appropriate. The Senior Credit Officer will need to create and develop the local Credit Risk Framework, in the context of global credit risk policies, and provide feedback and validation during the development stages of the credit risk system. The jobholder will also participate in group-wide projects such as the development of the credit risk methodologies and rating model and will identify and implement general process improvements to streamline credit risk management.
 

The successful candidate will be a degree holder (ideally in Finance, Economics or Applied Mathematics) with at least 5 years experience of fundamental credit analysis, with at least 2 years of personal delegated credit authority experience, with a solid understanding of investment banking products, across multiple markets and asset classes but specifically OTC and Exchange Traded derivatives. Candidates with a solid understanding of credit concepts embedded in ISDA/CSA are preferred. Applicants will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, relationship management and communication skills as they will need to communicate credit risks logically and succinctly to both global business/risk management and the executive management.
