Senior Data Warehouse Architect – Risk Management – Long Term Engagement recruitment
This position will be the data integration design lead of a significantly large risk data warehouse, providing designs for implementation-ready data integration patterns based on specifications provided by the solutions architect via the semantic layer architecture. This position requires deep design and technical skills, supreme multi-tasking, great communication skills and great collaboration skills. It is a “get your hands dirty”, “no detail is too small” position that requires a mix of desiogner, technologist, project manager, and coach. Successful candidate must clearly demonstrate the ability to work independently as part of a team that makes use of an Agile/Iterative development approach.
Work with Data Analysts, Business Intelligence Developers, Infrastructure Architects and key business users to review, design and develop data integration models in a hub-n-spoke environment utilizing IIW core data model
Creates solution designs, technical specifications, and ETL/ELT processing designs
Leads technical discussions impacting solutions and data integration technology
- Designs data integration patterns based on Atomic and Dimensional Modeling, Denormalized Data Structures, OLAP and Data Warehousing design patterns
- Leverage design optimization techniques to maximize the efficiency of integration layer design and the subsequent computer systems
- Adhere to industry and company best practices for service delivery
- Assist in the ongoing development and documentation of various systems, policies, procedures and customer deliverables
- Assisting in the ongoing data integration development of technical best practices for data movement, data quality, data cleansing and other Data Integration related activities
- Directly liaise with the Business Analysts, Report Writers and Architects on all Data Integration development activities
- Serve as the Designer and provide documentation (workflows, functional specifications, data models, etc.) of all ETL processes from data source to data staging to core data model to data consumption and distribution layers
- Provide problem-solving expertise and complex analysis of data to develop business intelligence integration designs.
- Develop data integration standards according to the organization's information services policies as well as best practices.
- Conduct review of other integration developers’ development efforts to ensure consistent methodologies are followed and to make recommendations where necessary.
- Work with Analysts and Business Users to translate functional specifications into technical designs for implementation and deployment.
- Must possess strong knowledge in metadata and data integration processes and methodologies
8+ years of data warehouse and data integration (including ETL patterns) design experience
5+ years in a direct role as a designer / lead for data integration and/or EDW systems
5+ years data warehousing and methodology experience
5+ years of data modeling ERD - Dimensional
4+ years ETL architecture including Ab Initio, IIS (Datastage)
4+ years of Agile development experience
Must have advanced technical expertise with Oracle, complex PL*SQL, UNIX/LINUX in a large data environment. Understand SQL execution plan and how to tune a query. Advanced SQL and Advanced Analytical Functions such as windowing, partition by, ranking, pivoting etc.
Technical expertise in distributed system architecture, design, and development
Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management in a clear and professional manner; verbally, written, and possess superior people management and leadership skills
Strong project management, leadership, decision-making, and technical design skills
Strong conceptual and analytical skills: SQL, problem solving, performance tuning, test case analysis
Ability to multitask and comfortable working in a large organization across multiple teams
Demonstrated competency in all phases of software development
Expert understanding of MPP and or large SMP environments
Solid understanding of data modeling and design considerations for analytical systems
Solid understanding of database administration, tuning, and space management
BI experience with Cognos or Microstrategy due to our growing business intelligence needs
Able to anticipate and mitigate risks as well as define design solutions
Able to produce professional documentation and manage small initiatives
