Currently there exists a need for a Senior Desktop Support Engineer to support the implementation of projects and the system administration of Windows Desktops and Laptops supporting both physical and virtual platforms.

Detailed responsibilities include maintaining system scripts, user and group administration, security, tuning and configuration, monitoring, and managing desktop system resources, as well as maintaining infrastructure applications such as Symantec Altiris, Microsoft SCCM, VMWARE VDI, and Symantec Antivirus. Responsible for the testing of new end user hardware and the creation of operating system images to perform on the respected hardware. Assists Senior Systems Analysts with coordinating system availability with IS Operations staff, Business Analysts, and Management. Assists Senior Systems Analysts with coordination with external vendors for hardware acquisition and testing.

Other responsibilities to include:
* Provide Desktop Engineering Support Services within the enterprise.
* Creating installation packages to be used in automated software deployment. Scripting and use of Microsoft SCCM are required tools.
* Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (may vary depending on project schedules)
* Overtime as approved by the client.
* Participate in and support the following Desktop Engineering activities
* Perform Systems Requirements Analysis and Provide Technical Architecture Recommendations
* Create Standard Desktop Images for North American Sites in concert with the Global Desktop Team
* Define Requirements for and Create Mechanisms for the Deployment of Desktop Software Updates and Patches
* General Desktop Systems Administration and Support
* Interface Directly with other Technical and Business Analysts as well as Departmental Management
* Work as a member of a team in a Mid to Large-scale, multi-platform, multi-Operating System Environment
* Systems and Application Standards Definition
* Act as a Technical Project Leader for Projects within the Infrastructure Group
* Create and Maintain Systems Documentation, Testing and Validation
* Functional and Technical Evaluation of Products and Operating System Upgrades and patches
* Change Management
* Disaster Recovery Planning
* Post-implementation Support
* On-Call activities

Assists in providing updates to the Manager, Systems Servers on major desktop based initiatives and problem resolution. Assists with training of support staff as needed. Assists IS Operations and Support personnel with support by authoring and maintaining IS procedures and by providing responses to frequently asked questions. Participates in development and maintenance of disaster recovery procedures relating to the desktop and mobile computer platform.

Provides all necessary planning estimates and forecasts to ensure system availability. Tracks historical data and solicits input from Senior Systems Analysts and Business Analysts in order to develop usage forecasts. Assists with forecasting usage for upcoming budget years.

Provides timely response to reported system issues. Develops workflow analysis ability to facilitate problem determination and system integration. Troubleshoots servers, communications, and network links to other systems. Provides second and third level support for server / system related.

Maintain current technology knowledge regarding hardware configurations and operating system versions.

Works within the policies, procedures and regulations as required by the Company and under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

SKILLS REQUIRED

* BA/BS Computer Sciences, Management Information Systems Computing systems design and maintenance
* Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer preferred
* Multiple years* experience in designing unattended application installs using SCCM or other comparable tools
* Extensive scripting experience utilizing a variety of languages such as VB Script, HTA/HTML, C#, VB.NET, PowerShell or other programming languages
* Project planning experience including systems implementation and configuration skills
* Minimum 5 years working experience in a mid to large-scale, multi-platform server environment is required
* Advanced knowledge of Windows XP, VISTA, and Windows 7
* Must possess Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong teamwork skills are a must.
