Senior DevOps Systems Engineer at Telepictures Productions (Burbank, CA) (allows remote)
Skills Requirements
About You.
- You’re hard working enough to stay with a production problem until it’s resolved, and then ticket or document the fix...
- ...but lazy enough to script anything you have to do repeatedly.
- You’re an Elite Ninja Linux Master (well, you have at least 3-5 years Ubuntu knowledge supporting a high volume production environment)
- and you use your large arsenal of DevOps tools (scripting via bash/ruby, automating via chef/puppet, lightning fast CLI skills) like shurikens to address systems challenges
- You manage code (including scripts) in version control (SVN, Git, etc) and you can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t. But if it isn’t there, you set it up yourself.
- You haven’t just heard of MySQL, it’s heard of you. You can administer, setup and troubleshoot MySQL (and Percona clusters)
- You’ve managed physical servers before, but they’re so ‘90s. The cloud is the future and you’re intimately familiar with Amazon AWS (EC2, S3, ELB, RDS, ElastiCache, Route53, OpsWorks, etc)
- You’re high functioning CDO (and you understand why that’s a good thing)
- You could get away without documenting things, but you know deep down that’s something you just can’t tolerate
- You strive towards creating Good Processes (Making it easier to do the right thing than it is to cheat)
- You’re the Great Communicator of our time (able to persuade dev and systems groups, but not hard-headed at the same time, and not argumentative)
- You take direction well, but can also think for yourself and complete a task or project in the spirit of the methods used by the rest of the group
- You can work remotely without THE MAN breathing down your neck and still be reliable
- You know when to make it good enough, when to make it great, and when to make it perfect
- You don’t love being on-call, but you know it’s part of the game
- You know there are desktop platforms other than the Mac, but you don’t know why people still use them
Things that could be about you, but don’t necessarily have to be
- You “get” Windows (2012)
- You can create/manage packages on Windows
- You can write/debug PHP Ruby
Perks
- Competitive salary
- Excellent health coverage
- 10 Days Paid Vacation
- 10 Paid Holiday Days
