Senior Director Product Strategy & Planning

The Product Services Strategy and Planning (PSSP) group, is responsible for:

• Identifying and translating product, customer, market and competitive trends into asset-spanning opportunitiesand challenges

• Facilitating collaborative development of cross-asset strategies, initiatives and contingency plans

• Driving/collaborating on execution of cross-asset strategies, initiatives and innovation

• Collaborating and coordinating cross-asset strategy, analysis, execution across the exchange with individual product lines, corporate strategy and other exchange divisions

Additionally, the PSSP group works with the business line teams and client segment teams to coordinate and collaborate on their strategic planning and product management activities, manage initiatives and track progress and performance, and to conduct analysis and to optimize business policies, pricing and incentives structures.

The PSSP group also works with PS teams and IT groups to coordinate and collaborate on identifying and prioritizing development needs of product line and cross-asset initiatives.

This position is responsible for:

• Developing and documenting business requirements for IT development on behalf of PS initiatives and ensuring that the functionality of systems developed are sufficient for businesses to meet their goals.

• Maintaining effective communication between PS and IT and Operations.

• Providing analysis to facilitate development prioritization.

• Assessing and coordinating the prioritization of technology development and other activities where shared resources must be allocated to specific efforts.

• Coordinating, with other areas, the tracking and communication of progress of business initiative development and execution, providing timely analysis and issue escalation.

• Providing analysis on industry technology and market design trends and how these trends could impact our opportunities, strategy and initiatives.

• Providing cross-asset product, customer, market, and competitive trend analysis useful for identifying opportunities and challenges and translating these into strategies.

As a team member, this position will be involved in:

• Coordinating and supporting individual business line teams and client segment teams in their ongoing strategy, business initiative and planning activities, including annual business planning, goal setting and forecasting, initiative prioritization, and performance tracking

• Coordinating and driving as a team member the development and execution of PS business initiatives through PS and through other divisions, including the development of business proposals, of operational business requirements and of a business plan as well as the execution of a business plan for the individual initiatives

• Executing quantitative and qualitative analysis for PSSP and for other PS departments generating actionable recommendations – including customer volume and trading analyses, market forecasts, and scenario analysis for different business initiatives or strategies

Qualifications:

Required:.

• Be knowledgeable about CME Group's technology systems and operations.

• Have experience developing business requirements for technology development efforts and ensuring that the systems designed and implemented meet those requirements.

• Have project management experience.

• Able to execute and coordinate financial, operational and strategic analyses of current and proposed potential business initiatives.

• Able to develop comprehensive business plans and assist others in the development of such plans.

• Able to work effectively in a team environment - as a lead coordinating team member, thought-leader, as a team member.

• Able to engage in comprehensive research and analysis of potential business initiatives, often with limited direction.

• Able to create and present qualitative and quantitative analysis cogently to senior managers in both written and verbal presentations.

• Able to work with and analyze complex data sets.

• Experience managing multi-divisional projects.

• Undergraduate degree.

Preferred:

• Have 5+ years of work experience; experience in strategy or business development is preferred; experience in electronic trading, Over-The-Counter trading, trading back office and clearing, or trading related-IT is also desired

• Have an advanced business degree and/or project management certification
