About the Job – Unity Scientific, LLC, a leading supplier of NIR and Wet Chemistry instruments and equipment, is seeking a Senior Staff Engineering to work in the Brookfield, CT office.
The Senior Staff Engineer – Team Leader (ETL) will head an extremely motivated engineering team. This is a highly visible role within the company. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in electrical engineering, optical engineering or physics. They will take their previous leadership experience to help lead the engineering team through development to launch of a varied line of products.
The ETL will construct miniature, laboratory, or process spectrophotometers for commercial development. This role will work closely with the research, engineering, and manufacturing teams for implementation and full-time production.
He/She must have previous experience in circuit design, research support, and commercialization of complex electro-optical systems. In addition, experience in some or all of the following will demonstrate appropriate skill set for the ETL position.
· Proven track record of effective leadership in commercial engineering environment, particularly in an electro-optical instrumentation design environment
· Electronics (IC) and detector or photonics device design experience
· Vibrational spectroscopy expertise
· Maturity and exemplary work ethic as demonstrated by documented accomplishments
· Demonstrated success and technical excellence in an engineering discipline
· Mentoring, coaching and leading a varied staff of engineering worldwide team members
· Provide timely department communication to staff
Candidates should have the following educational qualifications experience:
· Degree in Engineering (Masters or Ph.D. in electrical or optical engineering preferred)
· Candidates with EE Bachelor’s degree should have a previous proven track record in development with supervisory experience
· Minimum of 3 years experience in an engineering environment focused on commercial product development of devices or instrumentation
· Technical understanding and/or experience with commercial spectrophotometer development. Candidate can also have experience in development of electro-optical devices for spectroscopy or telecommunications
· Experience developing optical systems within the medical device field is a plus
