Senior Fiduciary Officer – Delaware Trust Company recruitment

The Senior Fiduciary Officer coordinates and reviews trust agreements for personal and corporate trust accounts. This position interacts with clients, accountants, attorneys and other intermediaries, as a point of contact for book of business. The Senior Fiduciary Officer may also bring in new clients from referrals and develop a network of intermediaries. This position communicates and recommends tax planning opportunities and creates estate planning analyses for clients. The Senior Fiduciary Officer also oversees and manages the activities of Trust Administrators and Fiduciary Specialists

Monitor and Controls

• Coordinate and administer trust accounts for various clients.

• Maintain complete records, including supporting documentation for discretionary distribution and payments.

• Review document drafts (trusts, wills, releases, accountings) prepared by external counsel prior to execution.

• Prepare or review annual administrative reviews

Client Interface

• Respond to internal and external requests for information.

• Serve as a point of contact for Delaware Trust clients, speaking directly with clients, accountants, attorneys and other intermediaries.

• Communicate complex trust and estate concepts to colleagues, co-trustees and beneficiaries.

• Participate in and represent the firm at local and national events.

• Assist Relationship Managers on advising clients of financial products available and appropriate for trust.

• Attend meetings with clients in partnership with Relationship Managers.

• Administer the most complex trusts and estates, and manage the most sophisticated client relationships

Portfolio Accounting

• Demonstrate experience with Sungard and other trust accounting systems.

• Prepare payment instructions and supervise input requests for client payments and transfers.

• Evaluate and make decisions related to distribution requests

Tax/Technical Expertise

• Communicate and recommend tax planning opportunities to create estate planning analysis for clients where appropriate.

• Review Fiduciary Income Tax returns and Accounting

General

• Interpret trust and estate law, taxes and investments.

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of the legal framework of trust administration.

• Supervise the activities of Trust Administrators and Fiduciary Specialists.

• Analyze trusts for new business acceptance purposes

QUALIFICATIONS

• 15+ years of trust administration experience

• Bachelors degree ; JD or other advanced degree a plus

• Deep knowledge of trust estates and tax laws

• Knowledge of Delaware trust strongly preferred

• Outstanding verbal and written communications skills

• Experience with Sunguard or other trust accounting systems

• Ability to identify, communicate and recommend tax planning opportunities

• Strong working knowledge of the interpretation and practical application of trust and estate document provisions, trust and estate law, taxes, investments, and the legal framework of trust administration.

• Experience with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word
