Senior Finance Manager Aviva Re (Life Business) recruitment
Aviva Reinsurances is part of AGC Capital team. The finance team has responsibility for financial risk, capital management, actuarial, solvency II and reinsurance. Aviva Group captives act as retention vehicles and there are plans to begin underwriting Life business with circa £25m premium income planned in 2012. As we move to a Solvency II environment, the Group can realise significant capital fungibility, transferability and diversification benefits through the use of a well capitalised group internal reinsurer.
Due to current business needs the team is looking to hiring a qualified accountant with Life insurance and reinsurance exposure. The role is focused on the Life business, however there will be a requirement for two-way knowledge share with the GI counterpart to ensure there is sufficient cover within the team.
On a daily basis the Senior Finance Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to;
* Provide a robust financial control and reporting framework for Aviva Group Captives in line with the Group Financial Reporting Control framework (FRCF)
* Initiate and manage change to the accounting function including the introduction of new business and financial processes
* Control and manage all financial activities outsourced to external service providers (Heritage Underwriting mangers and Heritage Investment Fund administrators in Guernsey).
* Provide commercial and strategic insight through analytical review

* Professional accounting qualification
Skills and Knowledge:
* Excellent knowledge of life insurance and reinsurance operations from a financial and statutory reporting perspective.
* Strong financial knowledge and ability to apply it practically
* Evident business acumen
* Strong analytical capabilities
* Effective communication and
* Negotiation skills
Experience:
* Life reinsurance accounting including technical analysis, financial and statutory reporting is essential.
* Experience with working with business at a commercial level
* Build relationships with individuals and teams that may be in other locations and businesses
* Comfortable managing and prioritising workload in order to deliver on a number of separate activities in parallel
* Evident experience in managing significant process changes, driving out more effective ways of working whilst managing day to day deliverables
* Past contribution to business strategic development
