The successful candidate will work in a functional support group with significant challenge to establish roles, functionality, tools, and manage intersection points with existing support areas. The Senior Financial Analyst will need to focus on role development, accountability, and tools by building People bridges (Sales, Marketing, SBT), and prioritizing perfection of process and tools second. Success in the position will hinge on ensuring access to valid and timely source data and information; this is not a purely technical proficiency, modeling and spread sheeting analysis position. The keys are broad business acumen, synthesis of multi-sourced information, and quick and precise recommendations for making decisions to the benefit of TELUS' financial goals.
- Review, Support, and Approve all major Bids as defined by jurisdiction of Governance
- Review, Support, and Approve all major Business Cases affecting Capital, significant unbudgeted OPEX, Working Capital, Debt, and/or Letter of Credit. This would include post-audit events on all such approvals.
- Preparation of summary financials for major Bids and Business Cases that are required to be reviewed and approved by Senior Management based on Delegations Authority Approval Matrix. These financials will be consistent with key metrics and thresholds to be set out and regularly updated by appropriate stakeholder groups.
- Support Major Bid (Total Contract Value 1M or involving significant complexity or partnering with other companies) pricing and costing at detail level working directly with Solution Bid Team (SBT).
- Support and provide Financing alternatives to internal investment and manage financing relationship in conjunction with Treasury.
- Review wording of Bid responses relating to implied Financial and/or Business Risk components (i.e. Letter's of Credit, Discounting, Complex billing, Working Capital, SLA's, etc.)
- Review, validate, and prepare (where appropriate) terms and conditions relating to contracts resultant from major Bids and Business Cases. This will involve working closely with Legal and regulatory.
- Support, validate, and participate in rollout of new Business ventures, acquisitions, and divestitures by performing role of BU Controller equivalence on specific venture
- Audit review of Major contracted events and Business investment initiatives at launch/deliverable phase versus "As Bid" and "As Approved" to ensure management of discrepancies and reporting to senior management.
- Post-audit of all completed contracts and investments.

- Ability to synthesize diverse information

- Strong financial accounting skills
- Decisioning and accountability orientation (this is not a reporting position)
- Ability to work in a team environment with people who don't have finance and accounting backgrounds

- Position will require some travel
- Business Finance or Accounting related degree and/or Accounting designation
- Minimum 3-5 years in high tech or telecommunication Finance or related position with last 2 years at Senior Analytical or Management level
