Senior Health Protection Practitioner

SENIOR HEALTH PRACTITIONER (Band 8a) – Thames Valley / Didcot

Hays Healthcare is working with Public Health England, to assist in their recruitment of a Health Protection Practitioner. This position is a fixed-term contract (initially 6 months), based out of the Thames Valley area

Job Summary:

The Senior Health Protection Practitioner will take the strategic, professional and clinical lead for the Practitioner team within the Thames Valley PHEC, The successful candidate will work in partnership with the Health Protection Consultants and other agencies to promote evidence-based practice and the ensure the implementation of directives, new guidance, legislation and the development of innovations in the prevention, control and management of infection, communicable diseases and non-infectious hazards to health.
The post holder will also work in partnership with Directors of Public Health and local Health Emergency Planning Teams to ensure the preparedness of the health economy to respond to a major incident posing a threat to health and to assist in the co-ordination of the public health response.

Person Specification:

All candidates wishing to apply for the position should be aware the following requirements:
· Inclusion on the NMC register
· Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience working at a similar level in a specialist area
· Demonstrable working knowledge of Health Protection
· Experience in a senior nursing / public health post
· Experience in communications and stakeholder liaison
· Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
· Leadership and effective influencing skills
· Ability to work under pressure
· Effective organiser, influencer and networker
