The Pension Investments team performs investment research to create, implement and monitor investment policy, strategy, asset/liability risk management and investment manager selection / oversight for the John Hancock Pension and Health Welfare Plans. Reporting to the Director, Sr. Investment Analyst, the incumbent will consult with the firm's retirement plan programs in identifying and evaluating investment strategies and managers for specific investment mandates. This analysis includes both quantitative and qualitative assessments of managers and strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the plans asset allocation.
- Monitoring / evaluating current and prospective investment managers strategies for public market and alternative investment strategies.
- Managing relationships with current / prospective investment managers.
- Presenting and consulting with oversight committees on investment portfolios within each investment platform.
- Oversight of key vendor relationships (trustee, custodian, actuarial consultant, etc.) to maximize plan efficiency.
- Performing ongoing research of performance measurement standards, including benchmarks, peer groups, and attribution analysis.
- Handling various operational and administrative functions for the plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree required
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Experience in either retirement plan oversight and/or pension consulting
- Knowledge and experience in the following: investment manager selection oversight, investment performance / attribution analysis, developing / conducting formal presentations, investment policy design, asset allocation applications.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multi projects within fast paced environment.
- Familiarity with following software applications preferred: Evestments, Factset, Morningstar, MPI Stylus, ProVal etc. MBA and/or CFA preferred.
